The real world

So, I know it's been a while.  I was watching Julie & Julia with my boyfriend's family today and felt guilty that my own blog was untouched.  I suppose everyone needs a guilt tripper in their lives that they can't yell at.

It is officially 1 week + 1 semester until I'm done with college, and completely worthy of a countdown.  I need a job.  I've found that no adult will respect me unless I'm in the workforce, which makes finding my first position a little more difficult than it should be.  Until then, I freelance.  Or try to.  Turns out that I need references for just about any job in existence, or at least pretty awesome lowballing skills.

Ah...the real world.  I've been looking forward to this since I was 6 and decided, "If Snow White and Sleeping Beauty didn't always exist, then someone had to make them. I can do that too."  I was a weird kid.  Too practical for other little kids to take seriously.  I hated "Wishbone" because it had a talking dog with costumes, which of course, couldn't happen in reality. So, why watch it?  I loved rocks, fossils, worms, those little beetles from 4th grade science experiments, and grasshoppers.  I think "grasshoppers" was the only part other kids understood, so we were alright with each other on -some- level.

So, here I am trying to find my grasshopper in the adult world, and so far, the only thing I have in common with those beings is public transportation. Wish me luck O,O

I have a love/hate thing going on with cable shows. Someone says a horrible joke, I laugh, look around to make sure no one saw that I laughed, and shrink back.

On the bright side, level 80 Druid of awesomeness. Grandma with blue hair does not compare.

Nerd-dom

I decided 15 minutes ago that I've been a nerd from birth and, therefore, a blog was necessary to complete the experience.

When you're asked to specify something about yourself on a name card, and all that you can come up with is, "I love science fiction," yet that fact makes you happy, you're a nerd. A beautifully happy, self sufficient nerdling who will always have a place in my heart. Right next to that macrame piece I've been meaning to start.

So, the deduction:

-I was WOWing (World of Warcraft-ing, for non-nerds) a half hour ago. Don't discount it right off the bat.  It's entertaining in an explore-the-world, defeat-the-bad-guys kind of way. And really, doesn't everyone wish they could do just that?
-My headphones and 2 purses look like anime (Japanese cartoons- Like any genre, not all shows are bad)
-A panda hat is staring at me from my desk with clip-on fairy earrings that a friend bought for me.
-My desk sports a "Beyond This Place There Be Dragons" block of wood.

Like a serious, full blown, haven't found my roots yet, kind of nerd. And I'm loving it.
