The Green Hornet
8.5/10

The movie had a solid plot and opened with an unexpected twist, but made the mistake of having 2 main characters be entirely based on cliches, aka the eager journalist and the playboy with daddy issues. The main character's moment of realization and growth was forced. It was a welcome surprise to find that Kaido made up for the two major flaws. The dialogue was fast, witty, and leaves you wanting to know more about the characters.

Would I rather have a spin-off based on Kaido? Hell yes.

My scale of awesomeness...
10= Perfect and would watch again immediately after it ended
9= Perfect, but would not watch again immediately
8= Marred by cliches, bad lines, or actor/ess clearly being a spotlight hog, but otherwise a solid good movie
7= Underdeveloped characters or plots, but a decent movie
6-1= Here and below the flaws just add insult to injury

BBQ

I've been looking into BBQ places around the New England area and have decided to go on a foodie rampage spanning this year. Not enough to look like a balloon, mind you, but rather a healthy dose of what-the-hell-is-around-here?

First stop:

Boston - SoulFire in Allston. It would've been East Coast Grill, but they don't always have Hell Pasta on the menu :( Besides, it has a couple hundred great online reviews from fans.

Second stop:

Connecticut - Any BBQ restaurant with a cult following. Little Taste of Texas was at the Big E, so maybe we'll even change up the order and go there first.

Now, I'm no critic. I just like food. Gloriously, awesome, spicy, tangy, juicy, beefy food. And so, for the present at least, this seems like an awesome idea.

It doesn't take long to realize that...

Money is a dangerous thing.

It becomes the only motivation for some people, whether it be quitting your childhood goals, abandoning your dream job, friends, hometown, or opinions. When families start to look at each other in terms of monetary value, it's the children who are left to wonder, who have my parents been all along?

Money is the ultimate curtain to pull down over the eyes of morality. A necessary evil, people call it. And it's true. We need it to feed our families, send our children to school, and stay off the streets. But when it begins to distort the very fabric of your personality, there is nothing to blame but human greed.

-A businessman embezzles from his company, ignoring that his high school friends would never have let him turn out that way.

-An artist sells 50,000 copies of last year's painting (a project he didn't even like).

-A working man saves money for a vacation he'll never take, choosing to gamble it away in the hopes of a larger fortune.

Money is a very dangerous thing.
